The Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia is a private research foundation headquartered in Genoa. It was established by an Italian decree-law in 2003 and conducts research spanning robotics, neuroscience, nanotechnology and life sciences. IIT develops the iCub humanoid platform and built the ergoCub robot with the Italian workers' insurance authority INAIL.
