Product overview
NEO Beta is the first version of 1X's NEO home humanoid. 1X introduced it on 30 August 2024 as a bipedal prototype designed for use in homes, with a bio-inspired design and a focus on safety around people. The announcement gave no numeric specifications for height, weight, degrees of freedom, speed, payload, battery or compute. Press coverage from Heise and Xataka reported approximate figures, which this page lists as reported rather than official.
1X said it planned to place a limited number of NEO units in selected homes during 2024 for research and development, and that NEO was designed to be produced at scale in the company's factory in Moss, Norway. CEO Bernt BΓΈrnich said that the priority was safety.
The design was later followed by NEO Gamma, released on 21 February 2025 with a minimalist design aesthetic, and then by the consumer NEO, which opened for pre-orders on 28 October 2025. NEO Beta was a prototype and is not offered for sale, so this page treats it as a discontinued model.
βSafety is the cornerstone that allows us to confidently introduce NEO Beta into homes, where it will gather essential feedback and demonstrate its capabilities in real-world settings.β
