Product overview
BYD Xiao Di is a humanoid robot from BYD, the Chinese electric-vehicle and battery maker, built for customer-facing work in its own showrooms. BYD confirmed the robot on 28 July 2026 ahead of an August public debut at Di Space, the company's experience centre in Zhengzhou. Press reports subsequently placed units at Di Space venues in Zhengzhou, Shenzhen and Shanghai.
Detailed Chinese coverage gives a height of 1.61 m, weight of 58.5 kg and 31 total degrees of freedom: seven per hand, six per leg, three at the waist and two at the neck. It reports a maximum single-hand load of 1 kg. Other articles round the weight to 58 kg, while a less consistent account gives about 68 kg. Coverage also credits the robot with six Chinese dialects, six foreign languages, and face, lip-reading and gesture recognition. BYD has not published a datasheet.
Its role is reception, vehicle explanation and feature demonstration. BYD executive vice president Li Ke has said the company wants two or three robots in each dealer store and that they will not replace human salespeople.
Because units are reportedly operating at a limited number of company venues, Xiao Di is listed as a pilot rather than a prototype. It is not a product on sale: no price, order channel or delivery date has been published, and CLS reported that commercialisation could come within one to two years.
