What it measures
Ability to complete a set of timed disaster-response tasks with degraded communications, scored by task points and completion time.
DARPA Robotics Challenge (DRC)
The DARPA Robotics Challenge was a U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency prize competition (2012–2015) for semi-autonomous ground robots performing disaster-response tasks in dangerous, degraded, human-engineered environments. The Trials were held in Florida in December 2013 and the Finals at the Fairplex in Pomona, California, on 5–6 June 2015. It is a historical reference.
Ability to complete a set of timed disaster-response tasks with degraded communications, scored by task points and completion time.
Teams completed eight timed tasks with their robots in a degraded, human-engineered environment. The Finals had a maximum of 8 points, and ties were broken by total time. The Trials had a maximum of 32 points.
It is a timed, public reference point for early humanoid and disaster-response robots, including the DRC-era hydraulic Atlas and the Hubo platform.

Hardware
IHMC used the DRC-era Atlas ('Running Man'), which placed second in the Finals. KAIST's DRC-HUBO and Tartan Rescue's CHIMP are not in the roster.

Positions, points and times are from the definitive post-event journal paper; IEEE Spectrum independently confirms the top three. Ties on points were ordered by completion time. The Finals had eight tasks and a maximum of 8 points. DARPA initially announced 25 finalists, WPI reported 24 teams at the event, and DARPA's retrospective says 23 ultimately competed; this file follows the published final standings and includes only the top eight.
