Product overview
Grace is a healthcare-focused humanoid from Hanson Robotics, the Hong Kong company behind the Sophia robot. SingularityNET announced it on 28 October 2020 as the flagship robot of Awakening Health, a joint venture between Hanson Robotics and Singularity Studio. The developed prototype was publicly demonstrated in June 2021.
The robot has a thermal camera in its chest that takes people's temperature and measures their responsiveness. It was reported to speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese. Grace uses a wheeled mobile base rather than legs; its upper body provides facial expressions and arm gestures for social interaction. Public physical specifications such as height, weight, degrees of freedom and runtime have not been established.
The 2021 plan called for a beta batch by August 2021 and broader deployment the following year. General availability did not follow, but Grace did enter a documented eight-week pilot at RΓ©sidence Pearl & Theo in Montreal in 2022, visiting participants twice weekly for 30-minute social-interaction sessions. That real care-home trial supports a pilot status, while the absence of an order channel or wider shipment evidence rules out commercial status.
