Product overview
Mona is a bipedal humanoid robot developed by Kind Humanoid, a Palo Alto startup founded by former Stanford researcher Christoph Kohstall. The company designed the robot for home use and for care settings such as facilities for older adults, and it said it did not plan to compete in industrial markets.
TechCrunch reported in October 2024 that Kind's earliest Mona prototypes were roughly assembled from parts, and that the company was building a first batch of about a dozen units for field tests in early 2025. The robot has two legs with hoof-like feet, and its hands are described as analogous to human hands. The exterior shown in the coverage was a rendering by designer Yves BΓ©har, not a photograph of a finished unit.
On 27 January 2025, 1X Technologies announced that it had acquired Kind Humanoid. PYMNTS reported that the deal unites the two teams. Kind's website now redirects to 1X's site.
The coverage reviewed for this page does not give Mona's height, weight, degrees of freedom, speed, battery life or price, and it does not describe any sales or deliveries. Mona is listed as a prototype with no public updates after the acquisition.
