Product overview
Xianxingzhe is a bipedal humanoid built by the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) in Changsha, Hunan. NUDT's official history says its team developed China's first complete bipedal walking robot in 1990, then developed the human-shaped Xianxingzhe in 1999; Xianxingzhe was selected among China's top ten science and technology advances of 2000. A contemporary report dates its public announcement to 29 November 2000.
Contemporary reporting gives a height of 140 cm, a weight of 20 kg and 17 degrees of freedom: six per leg, two per arm and one in the head. It also describes position and acceleration sensors and an embedded industrial PC for monitoring, control and motion-pattern generation. Wikipedia reports a walking pace of two steps per second. NUDT's history gives only a 140โ180 cm and approximately 25โ80 kg range across five generations, so it does not independently confirm the model-specific 20 kg figure and may conflict with it. No credible stride length was found, so two steps per second cannot be converted into meters per second.
NUDT's predecessor was founded in 1953, and the institution took the NUDT name in Changsha in 1978. No commercial sale of Xianxingzhe was found, so it is recorded as a discontinued historical research prototype.
Capabilities

Contemporary reporting gives a height of 140 cm, a weight of 20 kg and 17 degrees of freedom; Wikipedia gives a walking pace of two steps per second. [2][5]
The robot was built in Changsha, Hunan, by NUDT, a public research university affiliated with China's Central Military Commission. [2][3]
NUDT places Xianxingzhe within a five-generation research program. No commercial sale of this model was found, so the entry is marked discontinued. [4]
A 2002 report describes position and acceleration sensors and an embedded industrial PC for monitoring, control and motion-pattern generation. [5]

Quick answers
No general order page is verified. Xianxingzhe (NUDT) is currently classified as discontinued. [3]
Xianxingzhe (NUDT) is 140 cm tall and weighs 20 kg (Wikipedia gives 20 kg. NUDT gives only an approximately 25โ80 kg range across five generations, so the model-specific figure remains uncertain). [2][5][4]
Xianxingzhe (NUDT) has 17 listed degrees of freedom; Six DoF per leg, two per arm and one in the head, per a contemporary report. [5]
Xianxingzhe (NUDT) is made by National University of Defense Technology, based in China. [3]
