Product overview
Abi is a companion robot made by Andromeda Robotics, a company founded in Melbourne in 2022. It is designed for social interaction with people in aged care. Coverage of a 2023 trial described Abi as about 120 cm tall, able to gesture and move its head and eyes, and able to recognise residents and build on earlier conversations. Andromeda's product page describes Abi as a humanoid robot, and a June 2026 interview describes her as about 4 ft (about 122 cm) tall.
Andromeda's product page says Abi is fluent in 90 languages and can remember conversations from days or months ago. The care provider mecwacare also says Abi speaks up to 90 languages. Its activities include conversation, dancing, singing and bingo. Andromeda says Abi uses advanced AI and machine-learning models to recognise faces and express emotions. Trial coverage from 2023 named GPT-4 as the conversational model.
Andromeda supplies Abi to care operators on individual contracts, and its product page says each contract is based on the company's standard pricing. In April 2026 mecwacare reported 22 Abi units across its Victorian residential homes, supporting more than 1,500 residents. Andromeda raised AU$23 million in a Series A led by Forerunner Ventures in September 2025 and says it has opened a US headquarters in San Francisco. No public price, battery or drive-system specification was found, so those fields are left empty.
