3D Printed Manav Robot โProduct overview
MANAV is a small humanoid built by the robotics group of A-SET Training & Research Institute in New Delhi, India. According to press coverage, Diwakar Vaish, the institute's head of robotics and research, programmed it, and it made its debut at IIT Bombay's TechFest in early January 2015. The press presented it as India's first 3D-printed humanoid.
The 2015 articles describe a robot about 60 cm (two feet) tall and around 2 kg, with an entirely 3D-printed body and 21 servos. Two cameras sit in its eyes and two microphones in its ears. It was reported to dance and play football in response to visual cues and voice commands. One article saw it mainly as a teaching platform for robotics.
Coverage gave a purchase range of US$2,500 to US$4,000 (Rs 1.5 to 2.5 lakh), depending on customization. Wikipedia's list of humanoid robots places it in 2014, while the press coverage shows a January 2015 debut. We found no later development, production or sales information, and the institute's website did not resolve during our check, so the status is recorded as discontinued.
