Product overview
Bolani is an all-white, biped-shaped humanoid built by two physics students at the University of Balochistan in Quetta, Pakistan, as their final-year project. Photographs published with the report show a full body with two legs, so it is classified as biped rather than upper-body. The builders said they made it in about six months, mostly from iron and steel, and did the welding and painting themselves. Arab News reported in May 2021 that the robot is about 5 ft 4 in (163 cm) tall and has nine degrees of freedom.
According to the same article, the robot can move its eyes, neck, jaw and hands. The students control it from a phone app, and it can move forward and backward and shake hands with people when commanded. The source does not describe the locomotion mechanism in enough detail to verify an articulated walking gait. The builders planned to add voice and face recognition sensors so the robot could talk.
Bolani is a student prototype rather than a product. The article gives a build cost of Rs50,000, not a sale price. No official product page, sales channel or later development update was found.
