Product overview
Daffodil International University, a private research university in Savar, Dhaka District, Bangladesh, launched a humanoid robot named Dbot (also written D'bot) on 25 September 2016. The university says the robot was developed by Md. Hafizul Imran, a research associate in its Software Engineering department, after about one year of research and under the supervision of the department head.
The university presents Dbot as a learning aid for young children, especially for numbers and alphabets, and says it can also be used for entertainment. It is described as human-shaped and able to interact with users, and it understands English and can follow instructions in the native language. The launch ceremony was held in the DIU Auditorium, with a diplomat from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka as chief guest.
The launch report does not publish dimensions, mass, sensor details, movement capabilities or sales information. No independent coverage of the robot was found in the sources reviewed, so the entry relies on the university's own announcement. It is recorded as a prototype with a single public launch.
βThe aim of this robot is to help in the education sector, especially young children learning numbers and alphabets.β
