Product overview
Laborer 1 (劳动者1号), nicknamed Dazhuang, is the first numbered heavy-load humanoid in Gelanruo's Laborer line. Wuhan Gelanruo Intelligent Technology and Academician Chen Xuedong's team at Huazhong University of Science and Technology developed the robot for industrial and power-infrastructure work. It is a 1.8 m biped with metal biomimetic joints.
Gelanruo's current company profile lists a weight of 100 kg, walking with more than 50 kg of load and a maximum integrated-joint torque of 380 N·m. This supersedes the company's November 2024 figures of 95 kg and 40 kg; the conflict is retained in the specification notes. A September 2024 company article reported 33 degrees of freedom and movement faster than 5 km/h. HUST later showed Laborer 1 answering simple questions with a self-developed system and a general large language model.
The initial use case was patrol, material movement and guarding at remote substations. Hubei Daily reported in April 2026 that Dazhuang had begun work in substations, factories and utility tunnels, so the robot is classified as a pilot rather than a laboratory prototype. No public price, order page, battery capacity or runtime has been published.
