Product overview
HUBO2 (also written HUBO 2 or KHR-4) is a bipedal humanoid developed at KAIST as a lighter successor to KHR-3. IEEE's Robots Guide dates it to 2009 and lists the base platform at 125 cm, 45 kg and 40 degrees of freedom. Its electric actuation includes 44 brushless DC motors, five in each hand.
The robot walks at about 1.5 km/h and can reach 3.6 km/h. IEEE Spectrum reports a 480 Wh lithium-polymer battery and about two hours of operation while moving. Onboard computers handle vision and real-time motion control. Historical reports estimated the platform's cost at roughly US$400,000.
HUBO2 Plus is a separate 2011 revision commonly reported at 130 cm, 43 kg and 38 degrees of freedom. This entry uses the base HUBO2 specifications and notes the Plus figures only as a variant. The platform is discontinued, with no current sales or development program found.
