Product overview
MAHRU and AHRA are network-based humanoid research robots developed by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology. A KIST publication says MAHRU was introduced on 1 January 2005 and describes the platform as drawing perception and intelligence services from a distributed network. Korean press reported that AHRA followed about three months later as a companion design.
KIST's own specification gives MAHRU a height of 150 cm, weight of 67 kg and 35 DoF: 12 in the legs, 12 in the arms, eight across the hands, two in the neck and one in the waist. It lists omnidirectional biped walking at 1.2 km/h, plus a stereo camera, force-torque sensor, pose sensor and microphone. A 2006 press account reported a lower 0.9 km/h walking speed. A previously cited 48 V and 20 A battery description states voltage and current, not energy capacity, so it cannot support a kWh figure.
The wider line includes MAHRU-1, MAHRU-2, MAHRU-M, MAHRU-R and MAHRU-Z; model-specific specifications vary and are incomplete. The later MAHRU-Z is described with six fingers and a 3D camera. The series is a historical research platform with no sales channel and is classified as discontinued.

Capabilities
KIST describes a distributed control architecture that supplies perception, interaction, intelligence and service content over a network. [3]
KIST lists a stereo camera, microphone, force-torque sensor and pose sensor, with networked recognition of faces, voices and gestures. [3]
The MAHRU-Z model adds six fingers and a 3D camera, and its head, arms and legs can rotate. [1]
Korean press says the robot can walk forward, backward and sideways, turn, and move diagonally. [2]
