Product overview
XBot-L is a full-size humanoid prototype from RobotEra, a Beijing-based startup that press coverage says was incubated at Tsinghua University. The April 2024 Humanoid-Gym paper describes XBot-L as a 1.65 m humanoid and uses it, alongside the 1.2 m XBot-S, to test a reinforcement-learning framework for zero-shot sim-to-real transfer.
In June 2024 RobotEra released a video of XBot-L walking sections of the Great Wall. The video showed it on uneven terrain, winding stairs and dimly lit archways, and the company described it as the first humanoid to climb the Great Wall. Press coverage noted that the footage covered only a short distance and that the robot was missing some leg covers, and no independent evaluation was found.
In August 2024 coverage described XBot-L as equipped with RobotEra's XHand dexterous hand, which the company says has 12 active degrees of freedom. Weight and total degrees of freedom were not published in the sources reviewed. RobotEra's current 2026 catalog lists newer L7, Q5 and M7 platforms but not XBot-L, so the discontinued status is an inference that the research platform has been superseded rather than a formal end-of-sale announcement.
