Product overview
Tiangong is the original 2024 humanoid platform from the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, which trades as X-Humanoid. The centre unveiled it in Beijing's Yizhuang (E-Town) district on 27 April 2024 as a general-purpose 'master platform': a shared hardware base that industry partners could adapt and build on.
The Lite 1.0 manual gives a height of 163 cm, net weight of 43 kg and 20 body degrees of freedom: four in each arm and six in each leg. Its 15 Ah, 48 V battery is equivalent to 0.72 kWh, with stated runtime of two hours walking or four hours standing and a four-hour charge time. The base uses two RGB-D cameras, an inertial unit and an Intel x86 motion-control computer; dexterous hands, wrist force sensors and NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin modules are optional.
At launch the developer stated stable running at 6 km/h and 550 trillion operations per second, without naming the compute hardware behind the latter figure. Later variants included the 42-DoF 1.1 PRO and the taller 1.2 MAX. The centre also put Tiangong on open source.
The centre's official site now lists later Tiangong generations, and the 2024 platform is not among its current products. This page therefore classes it as discontinued, although we found no formal end-of-life announcement.
Capabilities
The developer described Tiangong as a platform with open, extensible interfaces for embodied-intelligence research and application. [5]
The Lite 1.0 manual specifies 163 cm, 43 kg, 20 body degrees of freedom, two RGB-D cameras and an inertial unit. [6]
Science and Technology Daily reported in December 2024 that Tiangong had officially gone open source, with many blueprints downloadable and other materials still expected. [3]
An August 2024 iteration, the 1.2 MAX, was shown at 173 cm and 60 kg at the 2024 World Robot Conference. [2][8]
