Product overview
Phoenix Gen 8 is the eighth generation of Sanctuary AI's Phoenix general-purpose robot, according to the company's announcement. Sanctuary says customer feedback showed that bipedal legs were too frail to support a strong torso, so Gen 8 uses a wheeled base. The announcement says it came less than eight months after the seventh generation.
The announcement is framed around data capture. Sanctuary says Gen 8 has an improved field of view and telemetry, upgraded depth and vision cameras, and a design that is quicker to commission and build. The company describes the robot as optimized for capturing high-quality data.
Sanctuary's Hannover Messe 2025 post refers to its Gen 8 Phoenix and says a Phoenix ran for 43.5 hours on the show floor, without naming that unit's generation. In June 2026 Sanctuary announced that it would deploy its Physical AI on existing commercial robotic platforms instead of waiting for humanoid hardware; that announcement does not mention Gen 8.
Sanctuary's Gen 8 announcement gives no height, weight, payload, degrees of freedom, runtime or speed figures and names no customer deployment for this generation. The official pages checked give no specification sheet for Gen 8.
