AlphaBot 2: future humanoid robots (Interesting Engineering) ↗Product overview
AlphaBot 2 is a wheeled, dual-arm general-purpose robot from AI2 Robotics, a Chinese company founded in April 2023 and based in Shenzhen. The company launched it at an event in Shenzhen on 17 April 2025. Official documentation describes a two-wheel differential chassis, a folding lift structure and interchangeable end effectors.
The official hardware manual gives a height of 180 cm, a standard weight of 135 kg and 22 body degrees of freedom excluding the end effectors. Each seven-DoF arm has a 4 kg rated payload. The chassis reaches 1.5 m/s, and a 48 V, 30 Ah battery provides a stated four to six hours of use. Perception hardware includes Realsense D435 cameras on the head, chest and back, D405 cameras at both wrists, a 2D LiDAR and a four-microphone array. The robot uses an NVIDIA AGX Orin 64 GB computing module.
The company says AlphaBot 2 runs GOVLA with on-device inference. At the BRIDGE Summit in December 2025 it demonstrated autonomous coffee-making and drumming. Chinese press citing the company says its production line ships more than 100 units a month. AI2 publishes SDK documentation and a business-inquiry route but no public list price; a 2025 press report gave an approximate US$15,000 starting price, retained only in price history.
“Without AI, it's just metal. Without hardware, it's just code. Without scenarios, it's just a demo.”
