Product overview
Surena I is the first model in the Surena humanoid series from the University of Tehran. Wikipedia dates its design to 2007 and its unveiling to 2008. The robot stands 1.65 m tall, weighs 60 kg and has eight degrees of freedom.
IEEE Spectrum describes the original Surena as a rudimentary humanoid that used wheels on its feet to move around, and does not describe it as walking. Wikipedia lists its capabilities as Persian speech synthesis and a basic version of football, and gives no walking speed or top speed.
Surena I was followed by Surena II, which was unveiled in 2010 as the first Surena able to walk. This file treats Surena I as a discontinued historical model, since later generations superseded it. No current availability or price is reported.
