Product overview
The XPeng PX5 was the company's first publicly shown humanoid platform, unveiled at XPeng Tech Day in Guangzhou on 24 October 2023. KrASIA reported a height of about 1.5 metres, and XPeng said the platform reached stable walking after five months of development.
The launch demonstration included straight-leg and long-stride walking, balance recovery after a kick, travel across grass and rocky ground, football and riding a self-balancing scooter. XPeng's official announcement describes an 11-DoF dexterous hand with hybrid rigid-flexible actuation and tactile sensing. Contemporary press reported up to 3 kg of load per arm, about 1 kg of two-finger holding force, and more than two hours of indoor and outdoor walking. The last figure is a walking-duration claim, not a disclosed battery capacity.
XPeng discussed possible future factory and retail roles but did not announce a sale, price or customer deployment. In November 2024 it unveiled what it called the first-generation IRON humanoid, followed by later IRON generations. PX5 is therefore treated as a superseded and discontinued prototype. Weight, total body degrees of freedom, speed and battery capacity remain unpublished in the sources reviewed.
