Product overview
Dongfeng has used the Xiaodong name for successive humanoid prototypes rather than one unchanged machine. An official November 2025 account described a black biped called Xiaodong that handled dialogue, guidance and other service interaction. That display also included a separate silver industrial humanoid, so its hardware claims should not be transferred to Xiaodong.
In 2026 Dongfeng presented an updated Xiaodong for industrial use, co-developed with Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Dongfeng contributed to the robot's 'brain' and HUST led the 'cerebellum' work. Dongfeng's Tianyuan Embodied Brain provides the embodied-intelligence platform, and the current robot has dexterous hands, upgraded compute and improved grasping, walking and recognition.
As of 8 October 2026, Dongfeng said the robot would begin factory training in late October for sorting, handling, loading and unloading, and quality inspection, with trial production planned by year-end. Small-batch output is targeted for 2027. These are future plans, not completed deployment or production milestones, so the robot remains a prototype.
Specifications are still thin. Dongfeng has not published height, weight, degrees of freedom, speed, payload or battery capacity for the current iteration. A 700-TOPS T500-controller claim in older coverage concerned a different dealership-role robot and has therefore been removed. No price or buy channel exists.
Capabilities

Factory training was planned for late October 2026, covering sorting, handling, loading and unloading, and quality inspection. [1][4][5]
Dongfeng planned trial production by the end of 2026 and small-batch production in 2027; these milestones had not occurred by the verification date. [1][4]
Dongfeng says the dexterous hands and environment recognition still need substantial training data before wider use. [4]
