Product overview
SEIMEI is a verification prototype of a domestically developed Japanese humanoid. MONOist reports that it was unveiled publicly in Kyoto on 28 April 2026. It is developed by the Kyoto Humanoid Association (KyoHA), a general incorporated association established in August 2025 that includes Waseda University among its research and concept partners.
MONOist reports a height of about 140 cm, a weight of about 49 kg including the battery, and 23 degrees of freedom across the legs, waist and arms. Dempa Digital gives the same height and weight and describes 23 movable joint axes. The planned walking demonstration did not take place because an ankle-link component broke during preparations.
KyoHA says Japan lacks a domestic hardware development framework, and it aims to plan, design and build the robot, including its components, in Japan. It plans two future models in parallel, with a high-output power model prioritized and an agile, motor-driven functional model. Those plans are not variants of the SEIMEI verification prototype. No price, order route or delivery date has been announced.
