Product overview

About Sanctuary AI Phoenix Gen 6

Phoenix Gen 6 is the sixth generation of Sanctuary AI's general-purpose humanoid. Sanctuary unveiled it on 16 May 2023 and presented it together with Carbon, the AI control system it said gives the robot its general-purpose capability. Sanctuary described Phoenix as the first humanoid general-purpose robot powered by Carbon.

Sanctuary's launch page gives a height of 5 ft 7 in, a weight of 155 lb, a maximum payload of 55 lb and a maximum speed of 3 mph. It describes hands with 20 degrees of freedom and haptic touch technology, but does not make clear whether 20 is a per-hand or combined figure. IEEE Spectrum reported that the launch hardware was not yet walking and used a small wheeled base for mobility, so the stated speed is not established as biped walking speed. The launch page does not state a battery, runtime or compute platform.

Sanctuary said its technology had already completed hundreds of customer-identified tasks across more than a dozen industries; the reviewed sources do not independently verify that claim. Sanctuary announced Gen 7 in April 2024, less than 12 months later, so Gen 6 is listed as discontinued.

β€œWe designed Phoenix to be the most sensor-rich and physically capable humanoid ever built and to enable Carbon’s rapidly growing intelligence to perform the broadest set of work tasks possible.”
